Terms of Service

1. What CinderGrind is

CinderGrind is a free, fan-made companion tool for Old School RuneScape. It shows your public hiscores progress, suggests goals and routes, and tracks gear progression.

It is provided free of charge. Every feature is available to everyone — nothing is paywalled, and donating does not unlock anything.

2. Not affiliated with Jagex

CinderGrind is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to Jagex Limited.

Old School RuneScape, RuneScape, and all related names, marks, images, and game content are the property of Jagex Limited. This site uses that intellectual property under the terms of Jagex's Fan Content Policy.

We never ask for your Jagex account credentials, and you should never give them to us or to any other third-party site. We only read publicly available hiscores data.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • Sign-in is by email link. Keep access to your email account secure — anyone who can read your inbox can sign in as you.
  • You are responsible for the activity on your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.

4. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • Attempt to overload, disrupt, or attack the service, including through automated request flooding
  • Scrape the site in bulk or use it as a data source for another service
  • Attempt to access other users' data, or bypass or probe our security or access controls
  • Use the service for anything unlawful
  • Upload malicious content through any input field, including the bank import

We apply rate limits to protect the service. If you hit them, wait a moment and try again.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service.

5. Accuracy of information — please read

Game data on CinderGrind comes from third-party sources: the Wise Old Man API and the OSRS Wiki. We make no guarantee that any of it is accurate, complete, or current.

In particular, be aware:

  • Hiscores only update when you log out of Old School RuneScape. Nothing shown here will match your live in-game experience while you're logged in.
  • Grand Exchange prices are cached and may lag behind the live market.
  • Game data changes. Jagex updates and rebalances content regularly, and our data may be out of date.
  • Bank imports are a snapshot of whatever you last pasted in, not a live view of your bank.

Do not make significant in-game decisions — particularly expensive ones — based solely on information shown here. Always verify against the game or the official wiki.

6. Donations

Donations are handled entirely by Ko-fi and are completely voluntary.

  • A donation is a gift to support hosting and running costs. It is not a purchase, subscription, or payment for any product, service, feature, or access.
  • Donations are not tax-deductible. We are not a registered charity.
  • Donations are generally non-refundable. If something has gone wrong, email us and we'll try to sort it out.
  • We never see or store your payment details.

7. Intellectual property

  • The CinderGrind name, branding, design, and original code are ours.
  • Old School RuneScape game content, item names, and images belong to Jagex Limited, used under their Fan Content Policy.
  • Game data and item images sourced from the OSRS Wiki are used under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licence.
  • Data you enter — your tracked usernames, goals, saved routes, and imported bank contents — remains yours. You can export or delete it at any time.

8. Availability

CinderGrind is a hobby project run by one person. We make no promise of uptime, availability, or continued existence. The service may change, break, or be discontinued at any time without notice.

We depend on third-party services (Wise Old Man, the OSRS Wiki, Supabase, Vercel). If any of them go down or change, parts of CinderGrind may stop working.

If we ever shut the service down, we'll give reasonable notice where we can so you can export your data.

9. As-is, and limits on liability

CinderGrind is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service — including lost in-game items, lost gold, wasted time, or decisions made based on information shown here.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your country of residence.
